They have opportunities for growth, education and lead-ership to help them explore a bright new world. Sometimes they need a help-ing hand, though. That’s why Texas Farm Bu-reau invests in youth, devoting large amounts of money and time to develop leadership skills at a young age. This year, the application process is online only. Appli-cants must register through the MyTFB membership portal. Once there, navigate to Regis-tration in the left column. Select 2018 Texas Farm Bureau High School Scholarship Applications from the list. All scholarships require the student to be part of a member-family to qualify and that mem-bership must be maintained for the duration of the scholarship. The deadline to apply and submit a completed application is March 1 before midnight. S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award The S.M. True Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award is presented to one enrolled college student per year who has a minimum of 60 credit hours and is pursuing an agricultural degree. The scholar will be awarded $20,000 over the course of four semesters. Students are encour-aged to apply at the end of their sophomore year. Young Farmer & Rancher Enrolled Scholarship The YF&R enrolled scholarship award is also for students already in college. Applicants must have a minimum of 45 credit hours and a GPA of 2.5 or higher to qualify. There are three $2,000 YF&R enrolled scholarships awarded per year. Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship While the name is similar, this YF&R scholarship is for high school students. One high school student from each of TFB’s 13 districts will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Stu-dents must intend to pursue a career in agriculture to qualify. Dick Mitchell Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one high school student per year. The student must have attended the Texas Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Conference to be eligible. District Scholarships These scholarships are awarded at the district level. Three students from each of the 13 districts will be awarded $1,000, and one student from each district will receive the memo-rial/honorary scholarship for $1,500. Students must have completed a community service project promoting agriculture or Texas Farm Bureau. TFB wants you to apply for scholarships. Apply by March 1.
